Progress
A general view of the station area. One day, maybe, we'll get around to doing a final, accurate
survey. Till then, this will have to do.
Below is a simplified track layout at the station. This diagram will probably form the basis for
the signals diagram for when the track is fully signaled. Several signal gantries are already
erected and painted
The track is 6lb steel rail from Chromar White. Sleeper are 2"x 2"x16" sawn timber
which has been tannalised and then the cut ends are immersed in creosote for 48
hours. The rail is secured to the sleepers using galvanised roofing bolts (large Hex
head wood screws complete with plastic faced washers). No predrilling is
necessary as the screws are self drilling. One charge on the drill will drive one
panels worth of screws.
Most of the track panel required for the last section of double track have been
made up and Geoff is in the process of building the 4 turnouts required. The track
bed is prepared and ready.

All major track work is now complete. The engine shed is built, requiring roof sealing and wiring
for power. The turntable is operational but requires a lot of track work to service the engine shed.
The double track from the station to Laurel Junction is complete.
The final icing on the cake is the completion of the bridge and extension to Loggers Loop. Once
the pond has been fitted with a w/proof liner, it can be filled and a pump fitted to power the
waterfall.
The loop crossover is still in the planning stage. The plan is to end the journey at Platform 3 and
exit via a footbridge back to Platform 1. Long term planning!!!
If you click in the camera icons on the map, photos of that area will pop up. Some of the photos
were taken last year, sorry about that. Work seems to intrude on photo sessions.
